What Rain Does (and Doesn’t Do)

Light rain can wash away fresh, loose dust — but that accounts for only a fraction of what accumulates. The real culprits in coastal Florida are:

  • Mineral deposits from hard tap water and salt air that rain water cannot dissolve
  • Pollen, which is sticky and clings to glass even after heavy downpours
  • Bird droppings, which bake onto panels between rains and require scrubbing
  • Organic films from algae, mold spores, and airborne debris common in humid climates

The Hard-Water Problem

Rain in Florida often falls with elevated mineral content. When it evaporates it leaves behind white calcium and silica streaks. Professional cleaning uses deionized or purified water specifically to avoid leaving mineral deposits behind.
